Margaret Appointed to Pre-K Study Committee - |
| |
On May 19, 2008, Speaker of the House Glenn Richardson appointed Margaret to serve on the House Study Committee on Georgia's Pre-K Program pursuant to HR 791.
Margaret continues to show leadership in issues of education important to the state of Georgia. In addition to serving on the House Education Committee, Margaret sponsored and passed legislation allowing charter school personnel to participate in the State Health Benefits Plan. She has also worked alongside Rep. Roger Bruce in developing and promoting HB 901, the Parent Protection Act. This legislation would provide parents with 24 hrs. of non-paid leave to take their children for immunizations, school registration, doctor's appointments, or other necessary duties. |

Elect Margaret for... Possum Queen?? - |
| |
Dear Friends and Neighbors, How many times in life are you given the opportunity to be part of history? For most of us, not too often….Well, I’m here to offer you such an opportunity! Help elect me as the 2008 Golden Age Center "Possum Queen." You’ll be playing a vital role in perpetuating the history of all that is quirky, corny, funky and fun! The Golden Age Center means a whole lot to me and the community, and even more to the folks that go there. This lively event (the Possum Queen Festival) is a fund-raiser for the Golden Age Center at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Grant Park. The GAC is a non-profit center for senior citizens and people with developmental disabilities. The center provides hot meals, recreation, and a variety of programs, health contacts and fellowship two days a week. Over the years, the festival has captured the attention of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Creative Loafing, and other local publications. The festival has raised thousands of dollars for the center through the Possum Queen candidates (like me) raising money and by just having fun. Now, exactly how can you help? Well, I’d love for you to show up at the festival on Sunday, May 18th, from 12:30 to 2:00 PM at St. Paul for the food and fun. Also, you can dig deep into your pockets and write me a sponsorship check or buy me some votes, which are $1 each. Send your check to the church (501 Grant Street, SE, Atlanta 30312) or give it to me and I’ll make sure it gets there. I know we are all on tight budgets, but even a single $1 puts me that much closer to winning. Please help me live out my dream of wearing that sacred crown. I’ll accept cash money or checks made payable to the St. Paul GAC. Earmark them “Vote for Margaret Kaiser” All your contributions are tax deductible, and for every $5 you contribute you get an entry into the door prize drawing at the festival. Believe me, the prizes are worth winning! Thank you for your support, and I hope to see you at the festival. Margaret Kaiser Possum Queen candidate |
